August M. Hagemann, Jr. went home to the Lord on July 29, 2019. "Augie was born on August 19, 1930, in Oakland. He was the fourth generation of Hagemann's raised on the ranch between Livermore and Pleasanton. He graduated from Livermore High School in 1949. He went on to UC Davis before returning home to farm. Augie raised sheep, grain, alfalfa, sugar, beets, cucumbers and vegetables.
Augie was active in a number of ag organizations. For many years he served on the board and as president of the Alameda County Wool Growers. He was on the Board of the Resource Conservation District for 19 years, serving as a chairman for many of those years. He was a board member of the Agriculture Stabilization and Conservation Service, Western Grain Marketing, Zone 7 water board, Sierra Bay Production Credit and many ag advisory committees. He served on the Farm Bureau board of Directors for more than 30 years. In that time he held the offices of Treasurer, Vice-President and President. He served for 6 years as a director for the California Farm Bureau federation, representing District II.
Augie is preceded in death by his beloved wife Linda, his daughter Terry, his grandson Jared and his brothers Lloyd and Robert. He is survived by his sons, Stephen Hagemann (Janae), John Hagemann (Nikki), his daughter, Jennifer Paddock (Ken), his grandchildren, Clayton, Haley, Robby, Terrilyn, Mariah and Mikayla, along with his great grandchildren, Noah, Parker and Brooke.
Deegan Funeral Chapel is honored to serve the Hagemann family. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, August 18th at 11 AM at Basso's Arena located at 6030 Dagnino Road in Livermore.
