My short time as pianist for this wonderful man was one of the defining moments of my life. He was truly a man of God. I will never forget him.

When we lived in Cloverdale Earl would come hold revival for us. I loved his songs. Saw him once when he came and visited Rule Smith in Arkansas. That was about 1980

I wish I could be there today and mourn with you the loss of Earl. One of my earliest memories is being called forward to the steps with other kids and he told us how one day maybe the building we were in (The Corinthian Room) would be just for kids. I remember being in awe of kid's importance in Earl's eyes and the vision for what is today the Sanctuary. Earl along with Dwayne Breeden, Don Clayton, Eug Breining, JoAnn James, and Gwen Breining (and of course Bill Stephens) built something unique that made a huge impact on Merced County. But it was Earl who had the spark of vision, who set the values of love and grace, a vision that's endured almost 50 years. I wouldn't be who I am had it not been for his vision! I'm certain that I'm one of the thousands who can say the exact same thing. Rest in peace Earl!
