Rebecca Ann McBride
Mar 3, 1952 - Dec 5, 2018
Beckie was born on March 3, 1952 to Tony and Vickie Durao at Crows Landing. She was the first grandchild on her mother's side and her father's favorite of their 3 children. Beckie attended Bonita Elementary in Crows Landing, Sacred Heart in Patterson, Central Catholic and MJC in Modesto, and
Stanislaus State in Turlock. Beckie taught kindergarten and first grade for over 40 years and retired in 2014. She was married to Gary McBride for 32 years and they adopted the children of her dreams. Her longtime favorite pastime/obsession was quilting. In her sewing room she has a bumper sticker that says, "The one who dies with the most fabric wins." If she didn't win, she has to have been darn close.
She is survived by her husband Gary McBride, son Colin McBride, daughters Katie McBride and Megan Thomas, son-in-law Justin Thomas and granddaughter Naomi Thomas. She leaves a huge supportive circle of friends from teaching, quilting, Bunko and her good friends at St. Andrews Renaissance.
Beckie will be cremated and the family is planning a Celebration of Life on Saturday, January 19, 2019, from 1 —4 p.m., at the family residence. In lieu of flowers, donations to Community Hospice, 4368 Spyres Way, Modesto 95356 would be welcome. Franklin & Downs Funeral Home is honored to be serving the family of Rebecca McBride.
