Joseph Jefferson Salts passed away peacefully on Friday, June 17, at the age of 103 in Modesto, CA, after a brief illness. Joe was preceded in death by his two wives, Zelma and Mary. He is survived by his daughter Beverlee Edwards and her husband Hank of Grove City, PA; two grandchildren Tara Edwards of Frankfort, KY, and Jason Edwards (Jennifer) also of Grove City; and two great grandsons, R.J. and Ethan Edwards. A self-proclaimed lifelong Penney's man, Joe spent 39 years with the JC Penney Company, beginning as an associate and retiring as a District Manager.
He married Zelma Costa, his college sweetheart, on July 4, 1938. They were married for 27 years before cancer claimed Zelma on March 16, 1965. Four years later, he married Mary Sherman, whom he met through mutual friends, on May 16, 1969.
A chapel service for Joe will be held on Thursday, June 23, beginning at 10AM at Franklin & Downs's McHenry Chapel in Modesto, CA. A graveside service will follow at Sutter Cemetery in Sutter, CA.

Had the pleasure of getting to know this wonderful man for many years while working at the dental office of Dr Woodbury. "JJ" was sharp as a tac and sweet as pie! 103! Sorry to see him go but know he is with his loves now.

Had the pleasure of getting to know this man and his "bride" Mary for many years while working at Dr Woodbury's dental office. He was sharp as a tac and sweet as pie! Will miss hearing his stories but know that he is with his loves now.
