LORETTA JOYCE MILLER
Joyce Miller, age 86, passed away on Thursday, December 10, 2021 in Bullhead City, Arizona, from complications of dementia. Joyce was born January 5, 1934 in Iola, Kansas to Alonzo and Alice Miller.
In 1949, she married Turley Miller Jr. Joyce and Turley had one son, Terry, who was the greatest joy in Joyce's life.
Joyce and Turley owned and operated The Emporium in downtown Hutchinson, Kansas in the 1970's, and Joyce managed the business during that time.
Those who knew Joyce well knew that her motto was Eat Dessert First! -- always delivered with a laugh. She was known for her pie-baking skills – anyone who was lucky enough to taste Joyce's home-baked pies was in for a treat. Joyce also loved dogs, and always affectionately referred to Terry and Becky's dogs as her "grand-dogs". She was an avid football fan and Sundays were usually dedicated to watching NFL games. Joyce had an independent spirit. After she was widowed, she relocated on her own from Kansas to Nevada, and then to Arizona in 2004, where she built a home and a life and settled in to enjoy the warm climate.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Alonzo and Alice Miller; her husband, Turley; her son, Terry; her sisters, Marie Smethers, Trella Hardy, and Faun Spillman.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Becky; six nieces; and two nephews.
A special thank you to Joyce's caregivers at Sunridge Village Retirement in Bullhead City for the care and companionship you provided for Joyce during her residence at your facility. Also to her special friends and neighbors, Mary and Inez.
A private burial will take place at a later date.
