Sue Turner Williams Obituary

"She Dead."
In July of 2020, friends and family of Sue met to celebrate the life of Sue's mom, Clara Harless. As families sometimes do, amongst the laughter and tears everyone discussed what they wanted in their obituary.
Sue said keep it simple, "She Dead." Of course, this was hilarious, and others chimed in on variations of this theme. One day, you will read an obituary titled, "She Dead Too." This is to inform you this obituary will stray from the norm.
Sue Ellen Turner Williams, 71, of Monroe, died unexpectedly on December 18, 2020, at her home.
Sue graduated from Monroe High School in 1967 and earned her Associate Degree from Monroe County Community College. Sue went on to work in various roles for Enrico Fermi II and Detroit Edison from 1982 to 2017. Her last assignment was DTE Newport Service Center where she worked until retiring in 2017.
Sue, a dedicated knitter, was known for collecting yarn, knitting needles, and totes. She knitted thousands of yards of scarves and shared them with friends and family. Her sweaters are prized possessions. Sue was a devoted grandmother. She kept a stash of Legos and MCU movies for her grandson, and even in a time of Covid, completely supported her grandson Marshall, whom she adored. Halloween was her favorite holiday. Sue arrived at family celebrations dressed in her witch's costume with bags of treats for all the children.
She was the inspiration for IMDb. Her knowledge of movies, actors, awards, and trivia was extensive. There was not a movie she did not know or a theater she had not brought her own candy into. Sue was polite and sweet but kept an eye on costs. She was not paying inflated prices for movie candy. Her grandson, nieces, and nephews were astounded by her ability to conjure treats from her knitting bag.
Did we mention yarn? Sue always had an eye for sales and if high end yarn was on sale, she bought it. Her hobby was her life, with a personalized plate of NITNGAL, informing everyone she was armed with knitting needles.
Sue's memory for family history will be sorely missed. Among her collections were many family artifacts, which she kept safe for future generations. She had an extensive knowledge of etymology and history. Conversations with her included facts about distant locations and the true meaning of words.
Her sense of humor, calm demeanor, and positive outlook will be missed by all who knew her.
Sue is survived by her son, Robert Williams and his wife, Lora; her siblings, Diane (Bruce) Gerson, Patrick Turner, and Dianna Gilliam; grandson, Marshall Williams; and many, many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Turner; mother, Clara Harless; and sister, Nancy Whitman.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Sue's life will be held on January 30, 2021, at Rupp Funeral Home. Family and friends may gather from 1 p.m. till 3 p.m. when a time of open sharing of favorite memories and stories of Sue will take place.

While I didn't know Sue or her beautiful family, I must say this was the best obituary I've ever read! She had a beautiful, wonderful life and while "she's dead" her vibrant memories will live on! Prayers and sympathy to her entire family!
