Reba Powell Obituary
Monroe - Reba Mae Powell, 81 years of Monroe, Michigan, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 25, 2021 at Hickory Ridge in Temperance, Michigan.
Born December 23, 1939 in LaFollette, TN, Reba was the daughter of the late Walter G. and Ella (Miller) Thompson. Reba was a 1958 graduate of Monroe High School.
On February 14, 1959, Reba married the love of her life, Allan W. Powell in Akron, Ohio.
Reba, in addition to being a wonderful homemaker, owned and operated, along with her husband, Allan's Florist in Monroe. She also worked at Lifestyles for Ladies in Monroe.
Reba was a Charter Member of Heritage Baptist Church in Monroe. Reba had a beautiful voice and sang alongside her husband in the Melody Masters Quartet. She enjoyed aerobics, flowers, birds, and tending to her gorgeous roses. She also had an immense fondness for little ones, and they were equally drawn to her. Reba will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her greatest joy in life was time spent with family.
Reba is survived by her beloved husband of 62 years, Allan, two loving daughters; Pamela D. (Ricky) Langford of Monroe, and Twila E. (Keith) Short of Maumee, OH, four cherished grandchildren; Ryan (Amanda) Langford, Lance Allan (Jade) Hawkins, Matthew Allan (Harmony) Langford, and Kyle Hawkins, six treasured great grandchildren, Hailey Langford, Gavin Langford, Paige Langford, Piper Hawkins, Barrett Allan Hawkins and Meila Langford, and one sister, Nina (James) Sabbadini. In addition to her parents, Reba was preceded in death by a brother, Rodger Thompson and a sister, Loretta Pope.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 3-7 pm at Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe, Michigan, 48161. On Friday, April 30, 2021, Reba will lie in state at Heritage Baptist Church from 11:00 am where funeral services celebrating her life will begin at 12:00 noon. Reverends Nate Click and Roy Southerland will officiate. Those who would like to attend services remotely may do so by using the following link: https://webcasts.lifetributes.com/1134758. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Heritage Baptist Church and Operation Christmas Child-spreading Jesus to children around the world.
