Sam Hugh Harris age 98 passed away peacefully on Sunday January 7, 2018. Born in Los Angeles on August 14, 1919.
Sam was a long time resident of Carmel. He was an artist, poet and author. He was predeceased by his first wife Gertrude and his daughter Linden Wolf. Sam and Linden went to Paris after Gertrude's death to pursue his love of painting. There he met and married Silvana. They led an adventurous life in Paris, Italy and Carmel. They returned to Carmel in the 1969 and alternated between Italy and Carmel to paint and exhibit his art. Silvana passed away at age 95. Sam is survived by his niece and caregiver Colleen Harris, great niece Jenna Harris and Valente who was like a son to him. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews here and in Italy.
A Memorial Service is planned for January 24, 2018 at 10am at Carmel Mission the Blessed Sacrament Chapel.
