1934 - 2018 Obituary Condolences
Fumiko Yeomans
1934 - 2018
Salinas, California
Fumiko Yeomans passed away peacefully on December 9, 2018, surrounded by her loving family.
Fumiko was born and raised in Okinawa, Japan. She came to the United States in 1956 and, over the next few decades as an Army wife, she raised her children while moving between U.S. military posts throughout the country and in Germany. During that time, she earned her certifications as a Nursing Assistant and Dietician Aide.
Fumiko was a longtime resident of Salinas, California. She served as a Dietician Aide at Natividad Medical Center for close to twenty years and, upon retirement in 1994, was accorded special recognition for her dedication and valuable service to the hospital and the community.
Fumiko was a devout Buddhist and enjoyed spending time with family (especially her grandchildren) and taking care of her pets (birds and dogs). Her hobbies included cooking (creating unique blends of Japanese and Southern U.S. cuisines), listening to Okinawan and Japanese music, flower gardening, reading, and traveling.
Fumiko was preceded in death by her beloved grandson Francis Deatras, Jr., and by her parents and her older brothers and sisters in Japan. She is survived by her daughter Barbara Ann Yeomans and son-in-law Roger Johnson; son David "Peter" Yeomans, Jr.; daughter Cheryl Annette Deatras and son-in-law Francis Deatras; son Curtis Shuntaro Yeomans; daughter Belinda Akemi Yeomans and son-in-law Scott Wilson; by her beloved grandchildren Alyosha Johnson, Gabriel Johnson, Anna Johnson, and Benjamin Johnson; and by her brother Shuntaro Higa and several nieces and nephews in Japan.
On behalf of Fumiko Yeomans and her family, we express our heartfelt gratitude to her extended family members, dear friends, and collegial workmates whose love, friendship, caring, and support she deeply appreciated and treasured.
Private memorial services will be held by the family in Salinas - Monterey and in Japan.
