Joshua Lee Obituary

Joshua Daniel Lee
1995 - 2015
Salinas, CA
Josh left us too soon on January 17, 2015. He was born and raised in Salinas, and was a 2013 graduate of the Stevenson School. Josh played lacrosse for Stevenson, and was involved in the school's KSPB radio station as a broadcaster and staff member. He was pursuing a business degree and an EMT certification at Sierra Nevada College in Incline Village, and more recently Monterey Peninsula College.
His keen interest in cars made Josh a frequent participant and volunteer with the Sports Car Racing Association of the Monterey Peninsula (SCRAMP). Josh had a natural talent for math, science, and history, and provided tutoring for high school and college students. Watersports were a favorite activity – Josh had many happy times sea kayaking on Monterey Bay and paddle boarding on Lake Tahoe.
Josh is survived by his immediate family – parents Dan and Donna, and sisters Annie and Jackie. He also leaves an extended family of aunts, uncle, cousins, and friends. He will be dearly missed, but wonderfully remembered by all.
A celebration of Josh's life is being planned for a later date. Memorial donations may be directed to the donor's choice.

I remember growing up with Josh through Toro Park, Washington Union, & San Benancio. We crossed paths again at Stevenson. He always had a smile on his face. He was such a happy go lucky kid.

So sad to hear the news of your passing. You have been and will be missed greatly around here. I will always remember when you first visited SNC and sat in on my ENTP 200 class. I was extremely impressed by you then, and felt very fortunate to call you my friend when you started school the following Fall. Rest Easy, Bud.

Josh will be deeply missed. I loved his positive attitude and remember sharing many laughs. Josh was one of my first friends here at Sierra Nevada College after going on a four day backpacking trip called wilderness orientation. The campus wasn't the same last fall when josh did not return. Everyone is deeply saddened and Josh will be truly missed.

Dear Family and Friends,
Josh attended SNC for the academic year of 2013-2014. I work here at the college and had the honor of meeting Josh and seeing him almost every day. He was such a genuine, kind, bright, and goofy person. He was always dancing to his own beat, literally, and I admired his cheerful attitude and overall openness towards life, experiences, and his fellow students. Josh was a go-getter and I will never forget the evening when he participated in the Mangeant (a pageant that we put on for men only) and his goofy self really came out. He came in second place and he donated his winnings to a foundation that supported autism, which was very honorable. Josh was a student who would never go unnoticed because of his smile and friendliness. I want his family and friends to know that we all remember Josh here and I was sad when he did not return this past fall. We are sending our love and support from Sierra Nevada College and Josh will be deeply missed.

Josh was my first best friend! He was so much fun to be with and I am so grateful that I became best friends with him. I will never forget all of the fun times we had together, like sleepovers, play dates, trick-or-treating, and going to places like the beach. He was a sweet, nice, caring, thoughtful, and a fun boy to be with and he was always there for me. Also, thank you Dan, Donna, Annie, and Jackie for all of the wonderful times that we had together.

Josh taught me a lot in the brief encounters we had. He seemed to have so much charisma beneath his calm demeanor, and it was always a treat when he would let that out. I remember telling him how awesome he was at the Stevenson Summer Camp, and wish I could have done that much more often. There are no words to describe how sorry I am at his loss, but I can see the light that burned in him within the entire Lee family, and in that sense, he still remains.

Every day you could see Josh running somewhere on campus, and whenever I had a bad day and saw him running to point A or B it was always a comforting reassurance to me knowing that he was always going somewhere fast with what seemed like not another care or concern in the world, and I hope we can all contribute a similar energy throughout our lives.

I am very sorry to hear about your loss. Having lost one of my own at age 17, I know what a deep gash it opens in one's life. We are not supposed to outlive our children, but unfortunately many do. He was my son's Richie's classmate and I met you a few times during the Stevenson years. My sincere condolences.

My two daughters and I have so many happy memories of the Lee family. Hilary and Annie and Jackie, Ellen and Josh, were inseparable friends during their elementary school years. ..... Josh typically chose the play-date activity theme for Ellen ---Star Wars was always exciting. Running back and forth on his front lawn was great fun, too. Ellen loved the special attention that she received from Josh because he was so cute and smart. He helped her with math homework in 3rd grade, and taught her some unique dance moves the next year!
...We will all always love Josh and his remarkable family, and cherish our wonderful memories.
