SAN MIGUEL DE ALLENDE, MEXICO - Joe Feuerborn passed away unexpectedly at his home in Mexico on February 6, 2011. He was 82. Joe was born in Chicago on December 31, 1929. He attended the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts before entering the Marine Corps in 1948. Upon his discharge he studied at the San Diego School of Fine Arts, subsequently moved to Carmel to study under John and Patricia Cunningham at the Carmel Art Institute.
He was a long-time member of the Carmel Art Association where he proudly displayed his art. In 1955 he traveled the world including a year in Guadalajara, Mexico gathering material for his future paintings. His work has been purchased by many art patrons and celebrities here and abroad and has been reproduced for international distribution. He was proud of his one man shows across the country.
Joe lived in Carmel for 30 years before moving to San Miguel 25 years ago where he continued to paint. He is survived by his stepsons, Gordon (Molly) McCall of Carmel Valley; Douglas McCall of Pacific Grove and stepdaughter, Pamela Clarke of San Diego. A private service has been held in
Mexico.
