It has been 16 years now that you left us my brother. We still think of you a lot, and really miss you. I hope to be retired sometime next year around your birthday (my half birthday) and really looking forward to that. You left us at 52 so I can tell you, 65 was when things really shifted things for me. LOL Just wanted to say we love AND miss you Joe Taylor, you were one of a kind.

Tomorrow will be 12 years since you left us and we still miss and think of you everyday. Your grandkids are growing like weeds and are as cute as can be. Jarrod and Amanda, his wife, are doing well and have moved back to California so Mom is thrilled to pieces for that too that we can see them more often. I have a long shift at the hospital tomorrow so thought I would drop you a line today so I don't forget when I get home beat after a long day only to go back again and do it again on Saturday! Will raise a toast to you on Sunday night though Bro and hope you will join us for your toast! We love and miss you much.

Sensei Taylor,
Well drat! I too am dismayed to discover your demise. My youngest daughter, Maryann, and only son, RL, greatly benefited from eight years of your instruction in traditional Shotokan Karate. Every time to pass through Monterey I ride by the old dojo just to see if it is open again and have often tried to find you on the internet. Today going through the garage I found a copy of the August 1999 issue of Martial Arts Professional that you gave me. That issue featured a cover story and article about Jhoon Rhee, the "Father of Taekwondo" and finding that magazine prompted me to try an internet search again... [SIGH]...
Sensei, you are GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN.

My Brother Joe. This Saturday (7th April) would have been your 63rd birthday and if you were still here I could tell you what an old fart you were becoming! That's OK though because I am right behind you. At 63 you would now have two grandchildren, a Boy and a Girl and I am sure you would want to spoil them to pieces. The Boy, Larkin, can dribble a basketball and make it in to the basket and he is still a toddler! The little Girl is still a baby and finding her way in this new world, but will have a big brother to take care of her as you did me. I miss you Joe, think of you all the time, and wish you were still here everyday. God bless you brother we all love you so much!!!

Sensei Taylor,
I am shocked to have just learned the news. And heart broken that it's taken me this long to find out. You were a great friend and I will never forget not only your knowledge of karate, but also your willingness to train all of us hard and exceed our internal plateaus. You are not forgotten and will always be thought of with each step into and out of the dojo.

Hey brother. Another year has passed and now 9 years since you have been gone. We still think of you so much and miss you. We laugh often about the good, and bad times, and how we all pulled through it. I hope you know that you are back with us and we see you every day as your ashes have taken a special spot and are always in our view. God bless and keep you. With all my love, your brother.

Well brother it has now been 7 years since you left us. We still think about you all the time and wish you were here. Amanda lost the baby early in the pregnancy so it looks like you are not going to be a grandfather just yet. They are doing well though and will be trying again soon. They live in Oregon now but when we saw him last month, he was talking about moving back to California. Joe you would be proud. God bless you.

Wow, Joe I can't believe it's been 5 years. It seems like only a month ago since you and I were kickin it. Whenever I go up to Northern California, I still here other people talking "bad" about you, which is a good thing. So many were jealous of you Joe. Remember it's when they don't talk about you is when you have to worry. Your legend lives on. Not a week goes by when I don't think of all the great times we had and that great smile of yours. All of my former students thought the world of you. They would say to me, "Sir. when can we go to Sensei Taylor's club again and work out?" Or "Sir. Is Sensei Taylor going to be at the tournament this week?"

My Brother Joe, it has been four years since we lost you in our lives but not in our hearts. Your son is now married and starting his own life and doing well. Our little Pepper cat joined you last week so please look out for him. I know how much you loved cats and helped us, as dog people to also love them (we must we have three inside and three outside.) God bless you bro, we love and miss you.

My Dearest Joe, I cannot believe it has been a year since I lost you. Life will never be the same. You were my lover and my best friend and life is so lonely and meaningless without you. I cry every day and miss you so deeply. I wish you were here to help me through this difficult life. I love you with all my heart and always will. I talk to you all day long and pray you can hear me. I love you so much. The kitties still wonder where their daddy is. I try to comfort them, but they miss you. We all miss you.

Dear Cousin Joe, I can't believe that a year has past. I think of you and remember alot of the past. The band that we were thinking of starting ( no talent here ), the sunburn that both you and Mick got from the Southern California Sun. And all that we did together. I miss you soooo much. And believe it or not the ketchup bottle that was stolen from the restaurant in Carmel is still in the cupboard where Michelle has kept it. Miss you / Love you. Katy

Sensei Joe; You left us far too early, but the positive influence you had on our lives will always remain. I was physically the smallest guy in the dojo, but you helped show me how to stand tall and confident in the face of all life's challenges. I will always be grateful, and you will be dearly missed. Dear Joe, As everyone else has expressed, I too cannot believe you are gone. Though years and distance have separated the life we once shared in our much younger years, we were bound together by the birth of our son. Things were not always easy, but there are many memories that make me smile. I'm sorry that we will never get the chance to reminisce. I always imagined that one day we would. Rest in Peace.

Joe,
Everytime I saw you you would always take the time to find out how I was doing in life and in school. Not many adults ever take the time to ask a teenager how their day is. You always did. You were always around when I needed help and welcomed me in to your home often. I loved escaping over to your house just to talk. Thanks for being there. I'll miss talking to you.

I'll never forget the first time I heard you and your beautiful wife's voice...you welcomed my husband (a complete stranger) to a brand new state while I was still in CA trying to sell our house. I talked to you and Cathy on the phone and knew that I had found my new "home." Joe, you were always the first one to lend a helping hand and share a smile with someone who needed it. You brought joy to everyone. I can't begin to tell you how much you will be missed. Keep spreading the joy from above Joe....we can always use more.

Dear Sue and Mick.
So sad to hear that you lost another member in your dear family.
It is hard to loose someone you love and someone still soo young.
We have to remember to love one another each day of our lives and as we wake up in the morning, be thankful for the day you are given from the Lord in order to spread love around you.
As we can not understand why our loved ones must leave us in agony and pain, it is all Gods will.
I will pray for the entire little family left behind.
