Montgomery - CARTER, Deacon Joe R, a resident of Montgomery, AL expired Sunday, January 03, 2021. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Rock Elvy Baptist Church (Goshen) with Rev. Cromwell Handy, Officiating. Mr. Carter served faithfully as a Deacon Emeritus at the Dexter Avenue Baptist Church, an educator, and a family man. He was a doting father to his two daughter, Chebryll Carter Edwards Sligh (Jerome), of Durham, NC, and Dr. FeRita Perna Carter of Riverside, CA. a loving grandfather to Donovan Keith Edwards of Morrisville, NC, and Brandon Carter Edwards, US Air Force stationed in Osun, Korea, one beloved brother, Leon Carter (Joyce) of Walthourville, GA, and a host of other relatives and friends with Lewis - Robusky Mortuary LLC directing.

Dea. Carter was truly a dedicated member of Dexter Avenue King Memorial Baptist Church, even after his health failed and he was not able to physically attend.
When visited, Dea. Carter could always lift your spirits and make you laugh out loud.
Condolences to his family. I share in the loss. He will always be remembered as a true servant of God and a friend to all.
Thank God for the gift of Dea. Joe Carter.
