Herman C. Bowles Obituary

Herman Clifton Bowles, age 90, passed away suddenly in Montgomery, AL on August 22, 2014. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Vivian Favre Bowles, their daughters Nona Bowles Walker, Linda Kay Bowles, and Lisa Gail Bowles, son-in-law Richard Eichholz, grandson James Bowles Eichholz, and devoted grand-dogs Bosco, Harley, and Coco. Herman was the oldest of a large, extended family that included 7 brothers and 3 sisters and their families.

Following his military service in World War II, Herman met his future wife while working with Western Electric, repairing damage from a major hurricane that struck the Gulf Coast. After their marriage on November 22, 1950, they settled down in Montgomery. For the next 39 years he worked as an electrical engineer for two firms, designing and preparing electrical plans for all types of structures, including the addition to Bryan Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa. He was an avid Bama football fan. Herman was a devoted member of Capitol Heights Church of Christ for over 50 years.

As a member of the "Greatest Generation," he inspired everyone whose lives he touched. He was loyal, honest, loving, and generous—almost to a fault. His greatest pleasure was helping others. He will live in our hearts forever.

Services will be held on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at 2:00p.m at Leak Memory Chapel, with visitation one hour prior. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to in his honor. Online condolences may be made at
