Cynthia, I was so sad to hear about Dan. I didn't realize he had passed until I received the Christmas card back as not deliverable. My prayers and thoughts are with you and your family.

My sincere condolences go out to the family of Dan Atkinson. He was a fixture on WSFA for so many years, and therefore a fixture in our home. His children's show (along with Marge Payne) was a part of my children's childhoods. As a teacher in a small, rural school, I was delighted when he came and did a presentation to our student body. He was a good person, and my prayers go out to his family.

I grew up with Dan and his sister Donna who was a classmate of mine until we graduated from CCHS and all went our separate ways. I had seen Dan on the weather channel here in Ks some years ago which was the first I had seen of him since high school. The Atkinson family was a rock in our Kingsland community. My heartfelt condolences to Dan's family and Blessings to all.

Remembering the amazing times we shared with Dan!
Cynthia, Josh, Joy, and Carole,
We are privileged to have known Dan who was the kindest Southern gentleman we have ever met. Our memories go deep and we will never forget the times we shared together raising our children together at Sturbridge and Frazer in Montgomery. Dan now has a perfectly healthy body, and as Cynthia so aptly put it in the interview last month at WSFA, Dan has probably already started helping God with the weather. He certainly could use some help right now! We love "ya'll" all the way from Kansas, and wish so much that we could be there Monday for the funeral, however, we are so thankful that Frazer UMC will be live-streaming the service online! We are praying for God's presence and strength to carry you through the days ahead, which certainly will be filled with an outpouring of love and support from the many, many people who loved Dan and still love your family deeply. God bless you. -- Terry, Mary, Joshua, and Caleb Haines, Overland Park, Kansas
