Mary Casey Obituary

Mary Ann E. Casey suddenly on Oct. 6, 2012 of Willow Grove, formerly of Glenside. Employee of Abington Memorial Hospital, PAL volunteer and Abington Police Citizen Volunteer. Daughter of James F. and Elsie (nee Kolar). Sister of John Casey (Vickie McKee), Carol Haggerty (Phillip), Teresa Reed (Scott) and Joanne Casey (Jeffrey Culotta). Loving Aunt of Aileen Haggerty (Erme Maula), Lisa O'Hagan (JP), Philip Haggerty, KC Reed and Eric Reed. Great aunt of Delcy and Sadie. Also survived by a boatload of cousins. She was kind, generous and tireless in her dedication to the service of others. In 2010, she was honored at the Governor's Award for Outstanding Citizen Crime Prevention . This award recognizes the many hours private citizens selflessly devote to local crime prevention projects, including youth-oriented activities, local crime watch, and initiatives to protect the elderly - all without any monetary compensation. In the 2008-2009 year alone, she volunteered more than 350 hours. For over 10 years, she dedicated herself to Abington PAL on a weekly basis because she believed in providing a safe and fun environment for local youth. Her collective thousands of hours of service earned her the President of the United State's Silver service award numerous times. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and all who were touched by her compassionate nature. Funeral Mass Wed, 11:00am Church of St. Luke the Evangelist 2316 (at Fairhill Ave) Glenside Relatives and friends are invited to William R. May Funeral Home, 354 N. Easton Rd. (at Keswick Ave) Tues. 7-9 pm. In lieu of flowers donations to PAL c/o Abington Police Dept. 1166 Old York Rd., Abington, PA 19001 or to the Breathing Room Foundation, 120 S. York Rd. Suite 7, Hatboro, PA 19040 would be appreciated.

I am very sorrow to hear about Mary Ann Casey's passing. We were co-workers at Pru. My sincere condolence to her family. The bible tell us that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. I pray that those words can bring you some comfort during this difficult time.

Unbelievably sad news that we have lost a friend. Case was a part of all of our family memories. Especially when she stood as Tara's sponsor for Confirmation. We wish all of her family well and Case will be in our hearts forever.
