Émile BOUCHARD Obituary
1919 - 2012
Passed away peacefully in Brossard on April 14th at the age of 92 years. Born in Montreal on September 4th, 1919, son of Calixte Bouchard and Regina Lachapelle. From 1941 to 1956 he played for the Canadians hockey club and was captain for eight years during which time he won four Stanley cups. He also founded and operated Chez Butch Bouchard restaurant from 1948 to 1980. He is a member of the Hall of Fame hockey, the Quebec sports Pantheon, of the order of the Canada as well as the order of Quebec. He leaves to mourn his wife Marie Claire Macbeth, married since April 26, 1947 as well as his sons Pierre (Lyne Lévesque), Michel (Luc Vandal), Jean et Émile (Josée Daigneault), his daughter Suzanne, his grandchildren Marie-France, Laurie, Sophie, Émile-Maxime, Alexis, Émile, Félix, also nephews and nieces. The family will receive family and friends on Friday, April 20th from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. at:

The public funeral will be held on Saturday, April 21st at 11 a.m. in the Saint-Antoine-de-Padoue Church located at the corner of St-Charles Street and the road to Chambly in Longueuil. The family will receive tributes from 10 a.m. at the main entrance of the Church. The family wishes to thank the staff at CHSLD Vigi Brossard and Henriette-Céré in Longueuil for their thoughtful and constant care. In lieu of flowers, donations to the cardiology institute would be appreciated.

I grew up in New York City and remember seeing your father play at the old Madison Square Garden, still with great zeal , at the end of his illustrious career. One of the best. Hockey has always been my favorite spectator sport, miles ahead of baseball and football. A real fast action event. My sympathies to your whole family. My father saw him play in Providence, R.I. when they were both young men and told me of his abilities as a fine hockey player. His legacy is secure.

Sincere sympathy to the Bouchard family. Butch was one of the Canadien greats. I had the good fortune of meeting his son Pierre while he was with the Washington Capitals. Pierre is a class guy also. The Bouchard family will be in our prayers.
