Joseph John "Papa Joe" Maslyk Sr. Obituary
Joseph John "Papa Joe" Maslyk, Sr., 83 years of age, and a resident of Lorain, passed away Thursday, June 7, 2018 at his home, followith ing a long illness.
He was born February 4, 1935 in Lorain, Ohio. Joseph had made his home in Lorain for over fifty years.
He was employed as an electrician with the Local #129 at Weigand Electric and at U.S. Steel for forty years before retiring in 1996. At the age of 12, Joe started working at Lorain Creamery in the morning before school to earn money to help support his mother and sister. At one time, he owned and operated Maslyk Electric.
Joe loved and respected nature, and all of its creatures. He enjoyed hiking and spending time outdoors. Joe loved traveling with his family, road trips were his passion. He was well known for his Joe's Fine Red Sauce and Beef Jerky.
Survivors include his sons, Donald Maslyk and Richard Maslyk, both of Lorain; his daughters, Linda Kelley (Barry) of Elyria Township, Theresa Maslyk of Lorain, and Patricia Miller (Jim) of Parma; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren; his sister, Mary Ann Dombroski (Ron) of Sagamore Hills, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his son, Joseph John Maslyk, Jr. on August 5, 2014; his former wife and the mother of his six children, Dorothy Lee Maslyk; and his parents, Joseph John and Anna Isabella (nee: Tumas).
Friends may call Saturday, June 16, 2018, from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the family service at 6:00 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst.
