Raymond E. Roth Obituary
Raymond E. Roth, 94 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2018, at New Life Hospice Residence Center following a long and full life.
Raymond was born August 30, 1923, in Lorain and moved to Amherst in 1956.
During his lifetime, Raymond worked as a carpenter and a design engineer. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Ray enjoyed the Boy Scouts and served as a scout leader and scout master for Troop #431 in Amherst. For his contribution to the lives of area youth through service to BSA council groups, Ray received the Silver Beaver Award. Two of Ray's grandchildren achieved the Eagle Scout rank. He was a jack of all trades and enjoyed woodworking, gardening, ice boating, fishing on the Lake, and planning family camping excursions.
Survivors include his sons, Thomas (Lucille) Roth of Amherst, Richard (Barbara) Roth of Willoughby, Robert Roth of Akron; his daughter, MaryEllen Cranor (& life partner, David Arnold) of Colorado; nine grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.
Raymond was preceded in death by his beloved wife of sixty-eight years, Dorothy Roth (nee: Kocak); his brother, Donald Roth; and his parents, Raymond E. and Florence Roth (nee: Keefauver).
Friends may call Friday, July 13, 2018 from 4 p.m. until the time of the service at 6 p.m. at the the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. The Rev. Rich Henry, pastor of Amherst Church of the Nazarene, will officiate.
Graveside committal services will be Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain, Ohio.
