James H. "Harp" Harper, 74, of Morris, passed away Friday, February 12, 2021. Born in Joliet on June 5, 1946, he was the son of the late Ralph and Margaret (Turner) Harper.

Jim grew up in Joliet and attended St. John's Elementary School in Joliet. He graduated from Joliet Catholic High School in 1964 and then attended Joliet Junior College. Jim met and married Pamela Hume on June 9, 1973. Jim had worked for Navajo Freight Lines as a dock foreman, Harper's Red Line Transfer and eventually Illinois Bell where he worked as a Linesman for 40 years till his retirement. He was a fisherman and gardener. He enjoyed being in the yard, doing various chores in the garden. Jim was a family man who loved vacationing and traveling. He was also known as the family jokester. Jim was a member of the Pioneer and Grundy County Farm Bureau.

Jim is survived by his loving wife Pam; Jim's siblings and family: John (Terri) of Plainfield, Michael (Julie) of West Chicago and Mary Jo (Tim) of Winfield; 12 nieces and nephews and 5 great nieces and nephews. Jim was also the godfather to Joshua Kuhn, Matthew Kuhn, Julie Borgman, Michael Anderson, Kathline Handle, Dannie Harper, and Margaret Harper

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Memorials may be made in Jim's name to the American Diabetes Association or to the Immaculate Conception Church.

A visitation for Jim will be held on Sunday, February 21, 2021 from 4 pm to 7 pm at the U.C. Davis-Callahan Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, February 22, 2021 at 10 am at the Immaculate Conception Church in Morris, with Father Jason Stone as Presider.

Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.

Due to COVID-19 requirements, safe social distancing will be required and we are asking for visitors to wear their masks while visiting the family.

Arrangements have been entrusted with U.C. Davis-Callahan Funeral Home, 301 W. Washington Street, Morris, IL.

To the Family of Jim Harper. I worked with Jim in Joliet at Illinois Bell many years ago. Jim was a good craftsman and a good person. I was sadden to hear of his passing. May your strenght be found in your faith in God.
