Karen Nolen Obituary
Karen Nolen

Karen Nolen, 73, of Morris, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 9, 2018.

A graduate of University of Illinois-Chicago, Karen married Russ Nolen on December 26, 1964 and eventually settled in Morris in 1976. Although employed with McElvain Construction for 7 years and Tri Star Marketing for 12 years, her true calling and love was babysitting for many years.

Karen's devotion and love for the children she cared for was only surpassed by the love she would eventually get to show to her three grandchildren: Noelani, Sebastian and Joey.

Karen's most defining trait was her selflessness, always putting the needs of others ahead of her own no matter the situation.

A loving wife, mother, and grandmother, she will be truly missed.

Preceded in death by her husband, Russ Nolen; her parents, Arthur and Erma (Millsap); and step-father, Robert "Jim" Stevenson.

Karen is survived by her children, Kevin, Krista (Dan) Schomig and Kurt. Grandchildren, Noelani Schomig, Sebastian & Joseph Schomig; adopted grandchildren, Matthew (Katie) Mueller, Stephanie (Drew) Gallagher, Dustin (Brittney) Mueller; sisters, Marla (Rich) Carnes, Lora (Ken) Erickson, Jamie (James) Walck, Kim Knox; and one brother, Robert (Jenny) Stevenson. Along with numerous brother and sisters in law, nieces, and nephews.

As it was Karen's request, cremation rites have been accorded. A visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., Thursday, August 16th at New Community Christian Church in Morris with a memorial service for family and close friends immediately following visitation. Burial rites will be held at 9:30 a.m., Friday August 17th at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, as Karen's ashes will be laid to rest with her beloved husband Russ.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either New Community Christian Church or Operation St. Nick in Karen's name.

Arrangements have been entrusted with U.C. Davis-Callahan Funeral Home, 301 W. Washington Street, Morris, IL.
