J W (Dub) Graham was born in Martin County, Texas in the home of his grandmother in 1925 as the third son of Irvin Clovis Graham and Zora Elizabeth Young Graham. He lived in that area all of his life. He met and fell in love with Alice Ruth Cross at the age of 16 and they married upon graduation from Courtney High School in 1944. He was inducted into the Army Air Corps in 1945 just a few days before Hiroshima. They attached him to a group called European Air Transport Service which was responsible for moving personnel, equipment, and supplies back to the states because the war was over. He was always very proud of his military service. He returned home in 1946 after Robert was born and worked as a fire fighter at Midland Air Field for a time and then went to work in the home building business in Midland where he worked for many years. He worked for Hays Construction for a number of years and finally worked for and retired from Mid-Tex of Midland. Somewhere in there Pamela was born. When Dub, Alice, and Robert moved to Midland in 1950, they joined St. Mark's United Methodist Church where J W was a charter member. This church has been an important part of his life ever since. J W was a wood craftsman. Many are familiar with his pen and pencil sets. But he also made furniture and lamps and many other things. In addition, he was proficient making granite and other granite type cabinetry. J W is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Gene and Max, by Alice Ruth and much of her family, and by his nephew Jerry Wayne Graham. He is survived by his son Robert and wife Janice of Hobbs, NM; his daughter Pamela of New Braunfels; grandchildren Robert Graham of Dallas, Sara Eldridge and husband Blake of Montana, Tawni Dyer and husband Bill of Hobbs, and James Graham and wife Jennifer of Florida; and six great-grandchildren, Chyanne, Wyatt, Kayla, Alex, Will, and Claire.
