Jerry Pool, 71 of Midland, Texas went on his journey with our Lord on Sunday July 8th, 2018. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his 2 daughters. Jerry was preceded in death by parents, Buck and Lucy Pool, sister, Janet Mitchell, grandson, Colton Pothoff and the love of his life, Sally. He is survived by his 3 children, Don Pool, Lisa Moody, Prissy Pothoff; 5 brothers, Larry Pool, Lewis Pool, Bobby Pool, Jimmy Pool, and Rodney Pool; 7 sisters, Peggy Pool, Shirley Ross, Judy Grissom, Martha Yarbrough, Glenda Ujhely, Bettie Robinson, and Bonnie Browning; and many many MAAANY other relatives. Jerry was born in Big Spring, Texas in a house..(yes there is a story behind that:). He graduated from the University of Hard Knocks with Honors. He was President of Phi Betta Get Me a Beer. He was a huge fan of Elvis and often, unsuccessfully, imitated him. Jerry was an avid Midlander. He loved and worked in the oilfield all of his adult life and retired from Denny Snelson's Pumping Unit Service. It was in the oilfield that he acquired the nickname "Pootie". Jerry was not content if he was not working. He was one that was always on time and never called in sick. Jerry knew every street, oilfield location, road, dirt road and even roads that were not meant to be roads, in the Permian Basin. This man would literally give you the shirt off his back. He often bought things, he did not need, just because he heard someone say they needed it. Then he would turn around and give it to them. He is loved by many and will be greatly missed. Funeral Services will be held at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Chapel on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at 4:00 p.m., officiated by Chaplain Robert Kirk. Serving as pallbearers will be Don Pool, Jacob Pool, Hayden Pothoff, Larry Pool, Pete Lopez, Brice Pool, David Pool, and Buck Pool. In lieu of flowers please send donations to Hospice of Midland. Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland. Online condolences may be made at
