Mike Cox, 64, of Stanton, passed away Sunday, August 5, 2018 while playing golf with his cousin in Winchester, Tennessee. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Monday, August 13, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Stanton. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM Sunday, August 12, 2018 at Gilbreath Funeral Home. He was born November 8, 1953 at Camp Atterbury, Indiana to Francis L. and Wydell Butler Cox. He married Raegan Tom March 16, 1996 in Stanton. Mike was raised in a military family and lived in numerous places. He graduated from Oceanside High School in Oceanside, California in 1971 and attended Mira Costa College on a golf scholarship, graduating in 1973 with an associate's degree. He served in the United States Army from 1974 to 1978 serving in Korea. Mike worked in the auto industry for over 30 years, moving to Stanton in 2015 and retiring in 2016. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved playing golf. His greatest joy was watching and supporting his children playing sports. Survivors include his wife, Raegan Cox of Stanton; five children, Trent Cox and Evan Cox both of Stanton, Justin Cox and wife, Darcy of Jackson Hole, Wyoming, Courtney Lucas and husband, Travis of Alpine, Wyoming, and Michael Cox of Reno, Nevada; three grandchildren, Jeydon Cox, Jersey Cox and Harper Lucas; three sisters, Debbie Mosely and husband, Mike of Pasadena, Texas, his twin sister, Michele Brierty of Sea Brook, Texas and Mitzi Cox-Lee and husband, Kwame of Pasadena, Texas; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; and grandparents, Jabez W. Butler and Lucille Poole Butler, William F. Cox and Ruth M. Cox. The family suggests memorials to the at donatenow.heart.org/ or to the donor's favorite charity. Arrangements are under the direction of Gilbreath Funeral Home.
