Orvil Kay Pinkerton, 85, went to be with our Lord and Savior on September 3, 2018. Kay was born to the late Henry and Dovie Pinkerton in Throckmorton, Texas on July 10, 1933. On September 30, 1952, he married his best friend Jeanine Garrett. Together, they raised 5 children. Kay was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, cousin and uncle. Kay was one of the hardest working men that ever was. He began his lifelong mechanic career at an early age. He started out at Elders Chevrolet and worked his way up to be one of the first mechanics to repair automatic transmissions in the Permian Basin. He then created the only mobile transmission repair company in the Midland/Odessa area during the 60's and 70's. In the early 80's, Kay and his cousin, Jerry Shankle, opened J&K Auto Repair where he continued his passion of auto mechanics throughout the 90's. Kay was preceded in death by his parents, wife, grandson Tim Pinkerton and sister Billy Jean Lightner. He is survived by children Danny (Vicki) Pinkerton, Steve Pinkerton, Susie (Lee) Kaake, Beverly (Jerry) Engeldahl and Sandra (Tebo) Vaughn; grandchildren Kimberly Munoz, Kristy Engeldahl, Michael (Shelley) Pinkerton, Trinity (Diana) Vaughn, Stacy Engeldahl, Daniel Pinkerton, Nathan (Denè) Pinkerton, Phillip Kaake, Katy (Nathan) McCravey, Kelly Franks and Alexus Pinkerton; sister Mickey Landers and brother Charlie Pinkerton; 23 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and many others that he loved as family. A memorial service for family and friends will be held at Stanton Memorial Funeral Home, 408 N. St. Peter in Stanton, TX, at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday September 8, 2018. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Stanton Fellowship Hall.
