Russell Lee Quarella of Midland, Texas passed away August 7, 2018 after a brief illness. He was born in Greene, NY on March 12, 1953. Russell is survived by his wife Cheryl and their dog Chewy; their son Kevin Rychel of Frisco, Texas, his wife Misty and their children Hannah, Kevin Jr and Hayden; his daughter Tiffany Lawson of Warr Acres, OK, her husband Chris and their children Kaitlin and Caleb; and his brothers Ray Quarella (Peggy), Ronnie Quarella (Karen), Ernie Quarella (Kathy) and Rod Quarella (Sheila), sisters Cindy Thomas (Aaron), Cheryl Robinson (Ralph), Shirley Horak (Ben), Tina Taylor (Terry) and many nieces and nephews. Russell is preceded in death by his parents Ernest and Lula Quarella. Russell grew up in New York and after graduation joined the Army where he served six years for our freedom. During a shortage of prison workers, his unit was deployed to work at Attica Prison. Russell recently retired from Midland Memorial Hospital after working there more than 30 years and was excited to begin the next chapter of his life traveling and seeing America with his love. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and outdoor activities like fishing, hunting and camping. Russell never met a stranger and enjoyed spreading joy to every person that he met. Russell was quick to tell a joke and was always looking for a way to make people smile. He was a spiritual man who loved attending Stonegate Fellowship and serving with his friends on the parking team. Russ lived his life always trying to leave people feeling better than how he found them. He was a great husband, loving father, and loyal friend. He will be missed. Viewing will be Friday, August 10, 2018 from 5pm-9pm at Lewallen-Garcia-Pipkin Funeral Home. A funeral service is set for Saturday August 11, 2018 at 12:00pm at Stonegate Fellowship, 6000 W. Wadley Ave. Minister Joe Russo will officiate the service. Burial will follow at Serenity Memorial Gardens Funeral service is under the direction of Lewallen-Garcia-Pipkin Funeral Home and Chapel.
