Oakes, Domico 7/22/1971 - 9/9/2017 Muskegon, Michigan In our Lord's Infinite love and wisdom, He called to rest Mr. Domico T. Oakes, on Saturday September 9th, 2017. He made his transition peacefully at home. Domico was born July 22, 1971 to his parents Jerry L. and Marion A. Oakes, in Muskegon, MI. Domico was the "Baby" child of the ten children. Domico accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age. He was a lifelong member at the Tabernacle Church of God, founded by his father the late great Bishop Jerry L. Oakes. He received his formal education through Reeths-Puffer Schools where he graduated in 1990. He went on to further his education attending Devry Institute of Technology in Columbus, OH. On May 31, 1998, he married the love of his life, Tasha Bibbs. To this union three sons were born and blended with his four daughters. Domico was employed at Trendway in Holland, MI until his health impeded his ability to work. He was a barber, music producer, entrepreneur, gardener, and motivational speaker. Domico's character of entrepreneurship led him to launch multiple endeavors including Fist Full of Dollars Productions, Love of a Rose, Sonde', and his most passionate expression of hope to all, PRAY TODAY. Make no mistake, Domico was quite the entertainer. His comical and amusing performances made him the life of any party. Domico will be missed dearly, but will be remembered by all who knew and loved him. To know Domico, was to love Domico! He leaves to cherish in his memory; his loving and devoted wife, Tasha Oakes; children; LaMitria Oakes (Atlanta, GA), Cheltrese Dixon (Muskegon, MI), D'Maria Oakes (Grand Rapids, MI), Travell Oakes (Muskegon, MI), Camaryia Williams (Muskegon, MI), Tyreese Oakes (Muskegon, MI), and Tamareon Oakes (Muskegon, MI); nine grandchildren; mother, Marion A. Oakes; mother in law, Joyce R. Bibbs; siblings; Joesheehan Oakes (sister in law), Velma Louise (Samuel) Melton, Dorothy (Malvin) Melton, Ann D. Oakes, Jerri Oakes, Marion (James) Oakes-Hunter, John (Cynthia) Oakes, and Venitrice (Bobby) Williams; He was proceeded in death by his paternal grandparents, Jerry & Beulah Mae Bridges; maternal grandparents, Riley & Velma Heard; father, Bishop Jerry L. Oakes; siblings, Paul Oakes Sr., Eddie Oakes and Alfonzo Farmer (brother in law) and a host of family and friends. The family of Domico T. Oakes gratefully acknowledges the many comforting expressions, thoughts and deeds. Special thanks to Tabernacle Church of God, Kingdom Embassy Covenant Church, Church of the Living God, Beulah Missionary Baptist Church, and the many other area Pastors and Church families. The family also extends a special thanks to U of M Hospital Oncology/Radiation Cancer Treatment Center, Norton Family Practice, W.MI ENT & Allergy, and Fountain Funeral Home for their professional services. Visitation will be at the Fountain Funeral Home from 2-6 P.M. on Thursday, September 14,2017. A Celebration of Life Service will be Friday, September 15, 2017 at 11 a.m., with another short visitation beginning at 9:30 am at the Tabernacle Church Of God, 614 E. River Rd, North Muskegon, Michigan 49445. Interment will be in Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
