Alexander ARMSTRONG Obituary

Passed away peacefully, on Monday, March 16, 2020, surrounded by his family at the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital in Bracebridge. He was in his 78th year. Alex was the cherished husband of Sharon for 53 years. Dear father of Craig (Kelly), and Meaghan Armstrong (Chris). Proud grampa of Irene, Lillian and Rowan. Brother of Roberta Romanko (Dan). Uncle to Howard. Alex will always be remembered and missed by his family and friends. Alex was a devoted long-time elementary school teacher for 35 years. He spent many years as a volunteer at the Gravenhurst Public Library as Board Chair, the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital as Board Chair, 1st Gravenhurst Scouting as Treasurer, and the Muskoka Oldtimers Hockey Club. In keeping with Alex's wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held in the forthcoming weeks. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Alex's memory may be made to the Children's Foundation of Muskoka or to the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital Foundation. Alex, there are too many memories to add them all here. I shared a room with you on one or two tournaments and I never remember hearing you complain about my snoring. While I recall your steadfast efforts with the team treasury for years and followed your dedication to the hospital board Not to mention our shared efforts on Oldtimer's participation with the Food Drive, the MS annual walks, the team roofings. (I have probably by-passed so much more... (like your long stuggles advancing along the boards)

No, Alex, what I am missing about you is your wit and humour in the dressing room. You stirred the team up and put us in such a wonderful mood before and after the game... and then later at the PAV.

This is such a poor remembrance of you, but it is the best I can up with right now... and I am going to wonder for a long while what your rejoinder would have been.

By the way, I really like your picture. Rest well old friend... Ken Silcox
