Ruth Russell

Ruth Irene (Roedel) Russell, 78, passed away Sunday, March 4, 2018 at West River Health Campus. She was born December 10, 1939 in Evansville, IN to the late Walter and Mildred (Willman) Roedel.

Ruth was secretary for Russell's Mobile Home Park and Russell's Excavation for many years. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother for nearly twenty years. Ruth was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ. She was a member of Big River Bend Horse Club for more than ten years, a past member of the JC's, Western Hills Country Club, the Elks Club and the EZA Sorority. Ruth enjoyed playing bridge with her Tuesday Bridge Club for 40 years.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Arvil Roedel; sisters, Martha Schutz and Laverne Wells.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, John Russell; sons, Michael Russell, Jeff (Patricia) Russell and Greg (Lisa) Russell; daughters, Diana (Gary) Langton and Carrie (Brad) Robb; grandchildren, Laura (Keith) Kuhn, John Adam Russell, Michelle (Matt) Robertson, Melissa Langton, Daniel (Tori) Langton, Katie and Sally Russell, David and Scott Russell, Ryan Miller, Zachary and Isabel Robb; seven great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Harry Wells and Bill Russell.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am Friday, March 9, 2018 at Schneider Funeral Home, 512 Main St., Mt. Vernon, IN with Rev. Jamie Kent officiating and burial to follow in Bellefontaine Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm Thursday, March 8, 2018 at the funeral home.

The family would like to thank Dr. Joseph Lee for his care and concern, and a special thanks to Liz, Mark and Stephen at West River for their compassionate care.
