Philip Arthur Grinnell
AGE: 53 • Little Egg Harbor
Philip Arthur Grinnell, 53, of Little Egg Harbor, N.J., formerly of Middlesex, N.J. passed away surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday Oct. 9th, 2013, after sustaining sever injuries during Super storm Sandy. Visitation will be held on Monday Oct. 14th from 5pm-8pm and on Tuesday Oct.15th from 2pm-4pm and 7pm-9pm at Middlesex Funeral Home, 528 Bound Brook Road, Middlesex, NJ 08846. Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Wednesday Oct. 16th beginning 9:30am at Our Lady of Mount Virgin Church, 600 Harris Ave, Middlesex, N.J. Philip was born in Florida and spent a majority of his life in Middlesex Borough, N.J. He graduated from Middlesex High School, New Mexico Military Institute and Old Dominion University. He honorably served as a U.S. Army Combat Engineer at Fort Benning, GA and rose to the rank of Captain. Thereafter, he worked as a pharmaceutical representative for several major drug companies, recently for Cegidum SK&A as a management consultant. He was an Ordained Minister and Certified Hypnotist. Philip loved music, especially Bob Dylan, Elvis and Johnny Cash. Philip had a great sense of humor, was an avid fisherman, cherished the moments spent with his grandchildren and lived life to its fullest, but will always be remembered most for his love of his family and endless generosity. From paying for funeral expenses of friends to filling the void while his brother was deployed four times to Iraq. After an 11 month battle well fought by Superman - Philip is now resting peacefully.
Philip was the beloved husband of Maia Makaridze-Grinnell; loving son of Sheila Grinnell; devoted father to Ashley and Sheila Grinnell of Jacksonville, FL; cherished grandfather to Christian, Gage, and Faith; dear brother to Chuck Grinnell of Ortley Beach, N.J., Cheryl Grinnell-Tarbous and husband Richard of Middlesex, N.J., Lisa Ziomek and husband Joe of Middlesex, N.J.; and adored uncle to Charles, Richard, Melissa, Jessica, Joseph, John, Steven, Megan, and Morgan. He was predeceased by his father, Philip Murray Grinnell. Philip will always be dearly loved by his family and friends. His incredible smile will be sorely missed.
May he rest always in peace and in our hearts for he will always be remembered as being there for us during both the good and difficult times. In lieu of flowers we are asking that donations be made in Philips name to an organization that was very helpful to our family during these last 11 months called. "HEARTWORKS". Please send donations to the family, c/o Middlesex Funeral Home, 528 Bound Brook Road, Middlesex, N.J. 08846

Phil was our landlord back in 2005. We would always joke about how odd it was to actually ENJOY living next to the guy we were renting from... He was a guest at our wedding... He sat at our picnic table in the yard and drank beer and chit chatted the summer nights away with us. Phil was an absolutely amazing guy. Always smiling, telling funny stories, and quoting songs. He would light up when he talked about his daughters and grandkids. I'm sad we lost touch over the years and I feel terrible that we never even knew of his accident or his passing. Reading this obituary months later makes my heart hurt. God bless his beautiful family and may he rest in peace... Miss you, buddy.

Memories never fade because a loved one is gone, for as long as we have a memory, they will live forever in our hearts.
A piece of your family has moved on, but a part of Philip will live forever in each of you! May you always cherish those memories and find strength in one another in this time of sorrow!

Philip,
I wish so badly that I could make the trip with Sport and Mike to pay my respects. You know how funny and amazing I thought you were from day one. That smile, that sense of humor...if only you had had your own show. You know I would have watched :-) I feel selfish because I only got to know you for a short time, but what an impression you made on me. Rest in peace, Austin Powers. I love you and you will be greatly, greatly missed!
Love,

Hello,
The loss of Philip is simply a tragedy. I have been friends with Philip for many years. Some of my best memories with Phillip are when we were fishing. He always had a great story to tell and I was always laughing.
I also had the privilge to work with Phillip. He was one of the brighest people I have ever met.
What I will miss most is the conversations we had over the last several years. As Phillip mellowed (most of the time)we had great discussions on everthing from politics to his grandchildern.
My condolances to the family and how braver they have been over the last 11 months.
Our Prayers are with Phil and his family,
Steve Williams
