William C. Skiles, Jr.

William C. "Bill" Skiles Jr., 90, died February 21, 2013. Bill was born and raised in the Belleville section of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and formerly of Whitehouse Station before moving to Bridgewater in 1981. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a BS Degree and from Rutgers University with a BA Degree. Bill began his chemical engineering career working at Johnson & Johnson in New Brunswick. He retired in 1994 after 50 years at Ethicon as the Director of Research and Administration. He had a successful and fulfilling career as a chemical engineer and held many patents for engineering processes he developed. He was a member of the North Branch Reformed Church in Bridgewater. Bill was an avid tennis player, golfer and enjoyed running. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
He is predeceased by his wife, Laura T. Skiles who passed away in 2004. Surviving are his daughters, Janet M. Lord and her husband Dana, Shelley A. Michel and her husband Gary and Tracey J. Skiles, a sister Ethel Mae Bolte and five grandchildren, Kelsey, Ryan, Kyle, Hailee and Jenna and a great grandson, Tobin.
Funeral Services will be 11am Friday at the Bruce C. VanArsdale Funeral Home, 111 N. Gaston Ave Somerville. Interment will follow at the North Branch Reformed Cemetery in Branchburg. William was a friend of the Ethicon family where Gail, Daddy and I worked. Gail worked with him and he was quite the character, funny and so full of laughter. Now all our friends have his humor in heaven. God Speed Bill. May you rest in peace on this journey.
