Jeanne Sondra Chernin, 79, of Ocean Township, N.J., died Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014 at New York Presbyterian Hospital with her family by her side. Born in Brooklyn, Mrs. Chernin eventually moved to Newark before settling in Ocean Township. She graduated from Weequahic High School in Newark, N.J. After graduation, she had a job as a legal secretary which she loved. She was also an accomplished pianist. She was a member of Congregation Torat El in Oakhurst. Mrs. Chernin lived for her family and had a heart of gold. She was happiest in the presence of her husband, children, and grandchildren. Her sole purpose in life was to make her family happy. She did everything from her heart.

She is survived by her husband of almost sixty years, Arnold Chernin, who was truly the love of her life. Their marriage was a true love story, filled with unconditional love. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Chernin is survived by her children: Lori and Jeff Rosenzweig, Larry and Carol Chernin, and Lesli and David Poznak, as well as six grandchildren: Kory, Demi, and Joey Poznak, and Rebecca, Sage, and Marc Chernin.

The funeral will be Friday 11am at Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, Highway 35, Ocean Township. In lieu of flowers donations to a would be appreciated. Shiva will be observed at the Chernin residence in Ocean Township until Thursday afternoon January 23.
