Gerald "Jerry" Scarano, 63, died unexpectedly June 12, 2018 at his home in Long Branch N.J. Born June 3, 1955 in Morristown, he was the beloved son of the late Marie Russell Scarano & Leo Scarano. He was a graduate of Warren Township High School (1974) & Newark College of Engineering (1979). He lived in New York City's Greenwich Village for 38 years before moving to Asbury Park & then Long Branch.
Gerald was a licensed realtor & specialist broker for Keller Williams Realty in West Long Branch. Gerald was an activist involved with Gay Pride. He was a volunteer at the voting polls, the planning board & town council, The Library, The Italina Club and the Garden Club.
Surviving are his sister, Marie T. Farrell, his brothers Leo & Michael, 6 nieces & nephews & 10 grand nieces & grand nephews. He will be missed by his countless friends & colleagues. He was predeceased by baby brothers Jude I & Jude II & sisters Estelle & Sherry.
Cremation was private. A Service will be held Sat. July 7, 2018 at 11:00 am at Holy Cross Cemetery, 145 Mount Airy Road, Basking Ridge, NJ 07920 where Gerald's ashes will be buried with his parents & infant siblings.

I hadn't seen Jerry since high school, but reconnected in recent years on Facebook.
It sounds like Jerry grew into a wonderful human being. I wish now that we had made the effort to get together, but we always think we have more time...until we don't.
