James Patrick Langan, loving husband, father and grandfather, 84, of Seabrook Village, Tinton Falls, died Sunday, May 24, 2015, at home after a short illness. He was born and raised in Jersey City, lived in Bayonne and resided in Middletown for 38 years. James was a graduate of St. Peter's College with a B.S. in Chemistry and held an advanced degree in Metallurgy from NJIT. He honorably served in the U.S. Army as a Medic during the Korean Conflict. He had a long and distinguished career in electroplating, printed circuits manufacturing and corrosion protecting at M&T Chemicals in Matawan, NJ; American Bank Note Corporation in NYC; Alpha Metals, Jersey City, NJ; American Smelting and Refining both at Federated Metals in Newark and Enthone OMI Division in West Haven, CT. He was the author of many technical papers and the holder of numerous patents in the industry. He ended his career as President of his own consulting company, J.P. Langan & Associates. He was a parishioner at the Church of St. Catharine in Holmdel and will be dearly remembered for countless small things like building the perfect fire, teaching his grandchildren how to swim, and rooting for the Giants, the Mets and the Irish.

James is predeceased by his beloved wife of 48 years, Audrey Rickert Langan in 2007. He is survived by his loving children, James P. Langan III and his wife Jennifer of Chatham; and Laureen Andree and her husband Timothy of Colts Neck. He was extremely proud of his eight grandchildren, Timothy, Katelyn, Daniel, Patrick, Bridget, & Conor Andree and James and Emily Langan. He was their beloved "Pa". He is also survived by his sister, Katherine Smith of Ellsworth, ME; and his brother John Langan of Lady Lake, FL.

Relatives and friends are invited for visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 28th at the John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:15 a.m.Friday, May 29 at the Church of St. Catharine in Holmdel. Entombment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery will immediately follow.
