Edward John Mihalko Obituary
Edward John Mihalko

Carteret - Edward John Mihalko, 87 of Carteret passed away peacefully on July 8, 2018 at home after a long illness. He was preceded in death by his father, John along with his mother, Mary.

Edward was born and raised in Carteret and was a veteran of the Korean War serving as staff sergeant in the United States Air Force. He retired from Pathmark Company as a security officer. Ed was an avid fan of all sports, especially baseball; having coached at Carteret Little League for eight years. He loved being around his family, spending time with them but most of all enjoyed boating with his sons and relaxing at the shore. Ed was a member of the First Catholic Slovak Union and the Carteret Community Seniors. During his illness, he felt comfort in watching the mass on EWTN in television.

Ed is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Josephine (Knurek) Mihalko; his daughter, Donna Nagy and her husband Frank of Carteret; two sons, Ed Mihalko, Jr. and his wife Suzanne of Jamesburg, David Mihalko and his wife JoAnn of Manahawkin. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Kristen, Sarah and Eddie; four great granddaughter, Shayna, Sophia, Giuliana and Mia along with his sister, Pauline Novakowski and nephews.

The family would like to thank all the members of JFK Haven Hospice for their valiant efforts, love and support.

Funeral services will begin at 9:30am on Thursday, July 12, 2018 from CHUBENKO FUNERAL HOME, 625 Port Reading Avenue, Port Reading followed by a 10am mass of Christian burial at St. Joseph R.C. Church in Carteret. Entombment will follow at St. Gertrude Cemetery Mausoleum.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 from 4pm to 8pm at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph R.C. Church, 55 High Street, Carteret, NJ 07008.
