Elizabeth Helen Espey, 90, of Long Branch passed away on August 23, 2012 at Monmouth Care Center in Long Branch. The daughter of John R. McCaffrey and Helen Turner, Mrs. Espey was born in Bayonne. She was married to David M. Espey for 35 years; the couple later divorced. A beloved elementary school educator, Mrs. Espey taught at St. Jerome's in West Long Branch and Highlands for over 40 years. She was a graduate of the College of Notre Dame in Staten Island.

Survivors include: Lourdes W. Nowalk (Thomas P. Nowalk); seven nieces and nephews: Isabelle Moldovan (Martin Moldovan), Dr. Thomas Nowalk (Xiao-Hong Nowalk), Catherine Shea (James Shea), Mary Mayhew (Charles Mayhew), Patricia Mokrzycki (Gregg Mokrzycki), Dr. Andrew Nowalk (Amy Brinkos) and Joseph Nowalk (Nancy Nowalk). She is also survived by 18 grandnieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 25 from 4-6 pm and Sunday, August 26 from 2-4 pm at the Damiano Funeral Home, 191 Franklin Ave., (corner of Third Ave.), Long Branch. The funeral will be Monday, 9:30 am from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10:30 am at St. Michael's R.C. Church, West End, Long Branch. Interment will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, West Long Branch. Memorial donations can be made to St. Vincent DePaul Society at St. Michael's, 800 Ocean Ave., Long Branch, NJ 07740.The family invites you to leave an online condolence at www.damianofuneralhome.com.
