Frank Dowling Obituary
Frank Dowling

Farmingdale - Frank Dowling, 68, of Farmingdale, NJ, passed away on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at home surrounded by his family after a courageous battle against brain cancer. Frank was born in Newark, spent his youth in Keansburg and then many happy years as a devoted father and husband in Aberdeen before moving to Farmingdale two years ago. He had a successful career as an accountant and began enjoying his retirement in 2012. Frank had a love of music dating back to his youth, as did his thirst for knowledge, illustrated by his always impressive Jeopardy and trivia skills. Some of his favorite hobbies also included bowling, playing cards, and more recently, pickle ball. Generally soft spoken, Frank's marvelously dry sense of humor would draw people in and take them by surprise. He left an indelible mark on everyone he met because of his beautifully genuine personality, love for life, honesty, and a loyalty to his friends and family that rivaled none.

Most important to Frank were his family and friends, and his memory will continue to live on with those that had the opportunity to know him. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 46 years, Randy Dowling. Randy is the love of his life; they found each other one night at a dance in Middletown, NJ when he was 17 years old and she just 15. From that day on they were inseparable and spent their lives together as true soulmates; holding hands, laughing, playing games, spending time at the lake with friends, and raising their children.

Frank is survived by their three daughters: Stephanie St. Thomas and husband, Matt, Tatum Petrich and husband, Todd, and Tara Dowling and wife, Sheila Wiegand, as well as grandchildren and step-grandchildren, Zachary, Colin, Isabelle, Lexie, and Stephanie. He is also survived by his mother, Helen Dowling, and father-in-law, Fred Seifter, as well as his two sisters and brother-in-law, Diane Bulmer, and Sue and Stuart Sneath, and nieces and nephews, Kevin, Michael, Kerrie, Katie, and Heather.

Visitations will be held on Sunday, August 12, 2018 from 2PM to 6PM and Monday, August 13, 2018 from 10AM to 11AM at Waitt Funeral Home, 501 Highway 79, Morganville, NJ. Family and friends are also invited Monday, August 13, 2018 for remembrances at 11AM, followed by Entombment in Holmdel Cemetery, Holmdel, NJ. The family asks that in lieu of flowers you make donations in Frank's memory to the Glioblastoma Foundation by visiting www.glioblastomafoundation.org To share stories, photos, or to send an online condolence, please visit www.waittfh.com
