Harvey Cedars - John Clayton Martinelli, age 78, also known as Poppa John, of Harvey Cedars died on Wednesday August 1st, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loved ones. He grew up in Princeton and raised his children in Moorestown. A summer resident of Long Beach Island starting in the mid 1970's, he moved there permanently in 1996. John always loved spending time with his family, doing things like boating and fishing during the summers, and attending his grand children's sporting events and other activities during the rest of the year. He also was an avid tennis player and was very involved with the LBI Foundation. In addition to his talent in photography, Poppa John spent a lot of time working on cars, model planes, and wood working.

John is preceded by the love of his life, Linda, and is survived by his three children, Deb Troiani and her husband Chris, John Martinelli and his wife Barbara, Rob Martinelli and his wife Amie, seven grandchildren, Matthew Troiani, Mark Troiani, Lauren Martinelli, Clay Martinelli, Katrina Martinelli, Alex Martinelli and Jenna Martinelli, his four granddogs Alfred, Lucy, Blaze and Scarlet.

Cremation was private and under the direction of Bugbee-Riggs Funeral Home, Ship Bottom. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of John C. Martinelli may be made in support of Dr. Zinner's lung research at Thomas Jefferson University.
