AGE: 83 • Perth Amboy

Margaret Mary Herron, 83, of Perth Amboy, passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at the Raritan Bay Medical Center, Perth Amboy, with her family by her side.

Margaret was a lifelong resident of Perth Amboy. She was employed by Newark Board of Education as a Teacher for the Hearing Impaired for 41 years and retired as a Principal of the Bruce Street School for the Deaf in 1992. She graduated from St. Mary's High School, then she continued her education at NJ Teachers College (Kean University) and received her Masters in Education from Columbia University. She was a Communicant and member of the Altar Rosary Society, Senior Citizens and a Eucharistic Minister and Lecture at Blessed John Paul II Parish at St. Mary's RC Church; Catholic Daughters, Garden Club; Past President of Perth Amboy Business & Professional Club; Newark and State of NJ Consul for Exceptional Children; American Irish Society; Life member of American & NJ Speech & Hearing Association, NJEA & NEA and CASA-R. Marge received the Diocesan Medal Regina Nostra in 2001, which was presented by Bishop Hughes.

She is preceeded in death by her beloved parents Neal and Margaret (nee Keller) Herron, her brothers Neal Jr., Joseph V., a nephew Timothy Herron and a niece Mary Kazlauskas. She is survived by her loving nieces, Sister Nancy Herron, RSM, Jane Herron, Jude Brennan, Deidre Byrd, Kathy Kuchie, nephews Michael, Christopher, Gerald, Joseph Durick, Neal, III, Denis Jude Herron, Several great and great- great nieces and nephews.

We begin to leave on Friday, April 26, 2013 at 10:15 am from the Gustav J. Novak Funeral Home, 419 Barclay Street, Perth Amboy for a funeral mass at the Blessed John Paul II Parish at St. Mary's RC Church at 11:00 am. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery. Visiting is on Thursday, April 25, 2013 from 2 ~ 4 & 7 ~ 9 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in Marge's memory can be made to the Sisters of Mercy, Attn: Sister Patricia Ventrano, 515 Montgomery Avenue, Merion, PA 19066. Donation can made to McAuley Hall Health Care Center, 1633 Highway 22W, Watchung, N.J. 07069.
