AGE: 62 • Sea Girt

Maureen H. McSweeney (nee Reilly), 62, of Sea Girt, NJ, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2013 surrounded by her loving family and friends after a valiant eight year battle with cancer. Born in Franklin Borough, NJ, Maureen lived in West Milford and raised her family in Lakewood, before moving to Sea Girt ten years ago. After graduating from Pope John XXIII High School, Sparta, NJ, Maureen graduated from Bridgeport University with a degree in Special Education. Maureen devoted her life to the care and well being of her three daughters, her parents, and friends. She was active in the St. Rose Grammar School and High School communities in Belmar, NJ. Maureen loved spending time at the beach and pool with her children and grandchildren. She was an avid skier and enjoyed swimming, golf, and biking.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Helen Reilly. Surviving are her loving husband of thirty-seven years, Daniel C. McSweeney; three daughters, Heather A. Bonner and her husband Mark of Natick, MA, Tracy M. Child and her husband James of Hoboken, NJ and Kate M. Roy and her husband Benjamin of Beverly, MA; brothers, Jack Reilly of Wyckoff, NJ, and Paul Reilly of West Milford, NJ. She also leaves her adored grandchildren, Madeline and Luke Bonner, Maeve and Sadie Child, and Reagan Roy.

Visitation will be held at O'Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy. 35, Wall, NJ 07719 on Friday, October 25, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 26, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mark's RC Church, 215 Crescent Parkway in Sea Girt. Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to: The Director, The National Cancer Institute, Building 31 Room 11A-16, 9000 Rockville Pike, Bethesda, MD 20892.
