Nan (Sheprow) Noell Obituary
Nan Noell (Sheprow)

East Hampton, NY - Nan Noell (Sheprow), 66, of East Hampton, NY passed peacefully at home on Sunday, October 6, 2019, under the extraordinarily loving care of her sisters, and recently surrounded by the rest of her family, after a lengthy illness. She was born June 14, 1953, in Jersey City, NJ, the second of 6 children of Ralph and Madeline Sheprow. She attended Our Lady Star of the Sea Academy in Long Branch, then Red Bank Catholic and Shore Regional High School.

Shortly after high school, Nan moved to New York City where she worked her way up from a hostess and waitress to the opening and initial management of several elegant Manhattan restaurants for investors. After years of success, she relocated to the Hamptons area in the late '80s, a place she quickly came to love and cherish for the remainder of her life. Nan soon established herself as a personal assistant and prominent estate manager until her death. During this time she furthered her personal goals through Suffolk Community College (Phi Theta Kappa), where she obtained an Associate of Arts degree with a focus on psychology and addictions, and Hunter College, where she received a Nutrition and Wellness Certification. Nan considered her greatest personal and educational achievement to be her earning of the Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) certification. This accomplishment allowed her to advance her lifelong penchant for helping and giving strength to others; with unconditional love, Nan provided counseling services in the field of addiction to countless individuals and families through the Long Island Center for Recovery, and Family Services League. Throughout her professional and personal life, Nan presented a dedication and tireless effort to offer guidance and support to any and all who came across her path. She dispensed this with a measure of her well-known unique, honest, and energizing personality. Nan will be severely missed by her many close friends and all who knew her.

Nan was predeceased by her father, Ralph Sheprow, and is survived by her mother, Madeline Sheprow (Sullivan). She also leaves behind five brothers and sisters: Mark Sheprow (Kathy), Matthew Sheprow (Betsey), Brian Sheprow (Janie), Nora Hibbits (Harry), Ellen Ramirez (Tony), and her beloved partner, Douglas Brown. Nan will also be greatly missed by her many nieces and nephews: Paul (Cara), Claire, Mary, Ryan, Elena, Kathleen, Jennifer, Lizzie, Anna, Liam, & Rachel, and finally her faithful dog, Valentino, more affectionately known as "Baby".

A memorial service for Nan will be held at a time and place to be announced soon.
