Robert C. "Colonel" Shomo of Medford, NJ passed away on August 3rd, 2015 at Southern Ocean Medical Center in Manahawkin, NJ, at the age of 62. Robert was born in Lakewood, NJ and resided in Mountainside before moving to Medford when he married Susan, the love of his life. Mr. Shomo was a summer and weekend resident of Beach Haven for many years and considered 9th street his second home.

Mr. Shomo is survived by his bride of 37 years Susan (nee Johnson) and their three children: Robert, Jr. and his wife, Shannon: Katherine and her husband Jay Brower; and Kimberly and her finance, Anthony Scillia. Robert is also survived by his father Robert T. Shomo and brothers Casey and Timothy. He is preceded in death by his sister Pamela. A passionate fisherman, Robert never missed a weekend chasing flounder on Long Beach Island. He was a dedicated father who taught all of his children to fish, hunt and surf. He also coached their sports teams and supported all of their academic and athletic endeavors throughout their

youth. Robert worked at Johnson & Towers for 39 years and recently was their

Senior Vice President, as well as their Director of Marine Sales. His business and personal connections in the marine industry reached far and wide. His passion and dedication, hard work and influence in the marine industry set new standards. He was also an avid sport fisherman who competed in various bill fish competitions around the world. His most recent accomplishment was winning the August 2014 Beach Haven White Marlin Invitational Tournament, taking first and second place, as well as the grand champion prize by catching two qualifying white marlin. Robert will be deeply missed by his loving family, as well as all those lives he touched with his caring and vibrant spirit.

A Memorial celebration will be held on August 15, 2015 at the Beach Haven Marlin & Tuna Club, 420 N. Pennsylvania Ave. Beach Haven, NJ 08008 from 1-5 pm. Funeral Arrangements are under the Direction of The Bugbee-Riggs Funeral Home, Ship Bottom. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mr. Shomo's memory can be made to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
