Walter Russell Dronne

Freehold - Walter Russell Dronne, of Freehold our loving father, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2019 at Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune Township.

Russell was born April 26, 1933 in Long Branch and was a lifelong resident of Freehold. He was predeceased in 2003 by his beloved wife of 49 years, Betty Ann Patten Dronne

Russell was a veteran of the U.S. Army and worked at Brockway Glass in Freehold for 30 years. After retiring from Brockway, he worked with his sons at Freehold Welding, Inc. for the remainder of his life.

He is survived by his children, Laurie Wood (John), Paul Dronne (Bonny), Scott Dronne (Joy), Leslie Sanzone (Paul) and Todd Dronne (Robin); his grandchildren Kyle, Justin, Nicholas, Theresa, Emma, Dan, Natalie, Devon and Dylan; great grandchildren Calvin, Grey and Jack; and two sisters, Darlene Kniesler and Charlene Ulatowski.

A man of many skills Russell could fix or build virtually anything, often in an innovative way. He taught these and many other life skills to all of his children.

Visitation will be Monday, January 14, 2019 at Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church, Freehold on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Myositis Association, 1940 Duke St., Suite 200, Alexandria, VA 22314.
