COL (Ret.) Stanley Lapidow

AGE: 67 • Hillsborough

Colonel Lapidow passed away on October 13, 2011 in his home surrounded by loved ones. Col. Lapidow was born and raised in Burlington, VT and spent most of his adult life in Hillsborough, NJ. He received a BS degree in Biology and Chemistry from Springfield College, an MBA from Fairleigh Dickinson, and his Ph.D. degree from Century University with a specialty in Environmental Engineering. Col. Lapidow commissioned into the United States Army as a 2nd Lieutenant in 1969 and specialized in Engineering. He recently retired from the New Jersey State Department of Treasury as the Manager of Environmental Health and Safety. Col. Lapidow also remained active with the New Jersey National Guard and the US Army Reserves. He has been deployed with Special Operations Units to Operation Desert Shield, the Haiti Conflict, and the Bosnia and Kosovo Campaigns. Colonel Lapidow spent his free time driving his Army jeep around town and was active with the Central Jersey Motor Vehicle Club. Col. Lapidow also enjoyed spending time with his family, going to the shooting range, and relaxing by the beach or pool.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Ruth; his sons, Jonathan and Michael; daughter Becky; daughters-in-law, Jennifer and Stephanie, two beloved grandchildren, Bailey and Payton, dog, Sami; and granddog, Macy.

A Memorial Service with Military Honors will be Saturday Oct. 15th at 7:30pm in the Hillsborough Funeral Home, 796 Rt. 206, Hillsborough. Visiting for family and friends will be prior to the service from 4:30-7:30. In lieu of flowers, kindly make donations to the Wounded Warriors Project at http://www.woundedwarriorproject.org/, or Compassionate Care Hospice at http://www.cchnet.net/.
