AGE: 91 • Westfield

Dorothy Betsy Lee, 91 passed away April 15, 2014, the sixth sibling born to the late Francis Ross Sr. and Josephine Shorts Ross. Dorothy was born December 12, 1922 at 375 Spring Street, Westfield, N.J. After graduating then move to Harlem, N.Y. doing secretarial work. In the early 1950's she returned to Westfield, N.J. After raising her family she moved to Roselle, N.J., while there she married Jerry Lee. In 1979 they returned to Westfield and lived on Downer Street. She graduate from Computer Programming School and worked for General Motor in Linden N.J. , Children's Specialized Hospital in Mountainside, NJ and retired she began work in Home Health Care and Hospice.

Her community activities included Cub Scout Den mother, Mckinley School PTA, Westfield Community Center (Drum and Bugle Corps with Drill Team), in Keeping with family tradition she was an active member of Bethel Baptist Church serving on the Usher Board, Flower Club, Tea Club, Missionary Board as well as many others. Dorothy enjoyed bus rides with family and friends to the Jersey Shores of Wildwood, Cape May and Atlantic City, also visiting Harlem and the Broadway Theater. Holiday dinners and baking her famous cookies, brownies and chicken and waffles was a favorite pastime. She planted Weeping Willow trees.

Dorothy was predeceased by father Francis Ross Sr. : husband Jerry Lee; mother Josephine Ross, brothers Walter, Donald, Francis Jr. and Charles Ross, sister Mary Wiles and daughter Jacquline Brown. Dorothy is celebrated in life, by her sister, Jean Rhodes of Elizabeth, NJ, sons, Christopher Brown of Plainfield, N.J., Walter (Patricia) Brown of Hillside, N.J., Dawn Brown of Hillside, N.J., grandchildren Jalen Gipson of Neptune, N.J. Sierra Robinson of Westfield, N. J. Shaun and Justin Brown of Piscataway, N.J, and a host of other loving relatives and friends. Visitation will be held at St. Luke AME, 502 Downer St. Westfield on April 25, 2014 at 10am followed by 11am funeral service. Please log on to www.plintoncurry.com to sign guest book.
