AGE: 78 • Madison Park

Nicholas J. Cifelli, age 78, of the Madison Park section of Old Bridge passed away Thursday, July 17, 2014 at Summerhill Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Old Bridge with his family at his side. Born in Newark, he had resided in Bloomfield before moving to Madison Park 53 years ago. Nicholas was a graduate of Newark College of Engineering (NJIT) where he received his BS in Civil Engineering and was a licensed Professional Engineer. Before his retirement 22 years ago he was employed as a Regional Engineer for New Jersey Department of Transportation, Trenton, where he worked for 34 years. Nicholas was a past president of the Madison Park Little League, Pop Warner Football Coach and an avid golfer. He was a communicant of Saint Bernadette's R. C. Church in Parlin where he was a member of the Senior 's Club and Knights of Columbus.

He is predeceased by his son John Cifelli in 2011, his parents Nicola & Josephine Cifelli and his sisters Dorothy Plinio, Jean Auriemma and Marie Chiaramonte. Surviving are his wife of 55 years Teresa Sibilia Cifelli, his children Barbara O'Rear, of Old Bridge, Marianne Cetnar and her husband Edward all of Old Bridge, Nicholas Cifelli Jr. of South River, his daughter in law Joanne Cifelli of South River, his grandchildren Edward Cetnar, Erin O'Rear, Daniel O'Rear, Amanda Cifelli and Jessica Cifelli and many loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Monday 9am from the Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home, 15 Cherry Lane, Parlin followed by a 9:30am mass at Saint Bernadette's R. C. Church in Parlin with burial to follow at Holy Cross Burial Park, So Brunswick. Calling hours at the funeral home will be held Sunday from 4pm to 8pm.
