Mrs. Muriel Paszamant Flanagan, 77, of New York City, died Wednesday morning, February 10, 2010 at the Regency Manor Care & Rehabilitation Center, Somerset, NJ. Born in New York City, Mrs. Flanagan had resided in the New Brunswick and Highland Park area for over 30 years before moving back to New York city in 1982. She had been a member of the Anshe Emeth Memorial Temple, New Brunswick and the Temple Sisterhood. Mrs. Paszamant was a longtime volunteer for the City of New City,working as a tour guide and volunteering her time to St. Vincent's Hospital and to Dr. Norman Vincent Peale's Ministry. Mrs. Flanagan was a founding member of the Volunteer Squad for the Central NJ Jewish Home for the Aged, Somerset, NJ. She enjoyed spending time with her family and playing Mah Jongg and cards with her friends.
Daughter of the late David & Edith (Sachsman) Schwartz, she was also predeceased by her husbands, Donald M. Paszamant & Owen J. Flanagan. Surviving are Her sons: John and Karen Paszamant of Metuchen, NJ, William Paszamant of los Angeles California; her daughter and son-in-law, Lisa & Putman Clark of Matta Toisetto, Massachusetts; her brother, Jerome T. Schwartz of Port Washington, NY; and her six grandchildren, Michael, Joshua, Kaitlin, Jenna, Amanda and Nathen, and her stepchildren, Owen, Mark, Kathleen, Nancy and their families.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 12th at 1pm in the Crabiel Parkwest Funeral Chapel, 239 Livingston Avenue, New Brunswick. Interment will follow in the Beth Israel Cemetery, Woodbridge, NJ. Memorial contributions may be made to the Metropolitan Council on Jewish Poverty, 80 Maiden Lane, 21st Floor, New York, New York 10038.
