Patricia Jean 'Patty' Olson
Patricia Jean "Patty" Olson, 81, of Crawfordsville, Ind., passed away Feb. 5, at 4:59 a.m., in the IU Arnett Health Hospital in Lafayette, Ind.
She was born Aug. 18, 1933, in Hoopeston, to Millard and Margaret (Strayer) Lane. She married Leonard Allen "Bud" Olson on Dec. 7, 1952, in Hoopeston. He preceded her in death in 2003.
Mrs. Olson retired in 1998 after 15 years with Dr. Gordon Boyd's Optometry Office. Prior to that she had worked for 10 years in the Illinois Canning Company, Hoopeston, and as a Window Dresser for Aldens Department Store, Frankfort. She was a 1951 graduate of John Greer High School in Hoopeston; a member of the American Legion and VFW Auxilliaries; member of the Moose Lodge; and in her free time enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and painting.
She is survived by her daughters: Gia (Andy) Smith, Crawfordsville; and Valli (Ed) Eichstedt, Coopville, Wash. Also surviving is her granddaughter: Kristin Onyika; and her great grandchild: Atticus Finn Onyika.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Kent, in 1977; and her parents.
A public graveside service was presented Feb. 10, in the Oak Hill Grant Avenue Cemetery, with Rev. Kurt Flora officiating.
Powers-Priebe Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
