APPLE GROVE — Dale Wendell Nibert, 86, of Apple Grove, went to heaven on Sunday, June 1, 2014, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Huntington.
He was born at Mercer's Bottom on Oct. 27, 1927, the son of Russell Perrin and Mary Frances Booth Nibert, who operated a general store and post office for many years. He was a 1945 graduate of Point Pleasant High School, where he played football and was a member of Future Farmer's of America. He then attended Marshall University.
He was a lifelong farmer in Mason County, a member of the Farm Bureau, and president of Patron's Mutual Insurance Co. He was a founding director of People's Bank of Point Pleasant, now City National Bank, and a former director of City Holding Co. He was also a lifelong member of Beale Chapel Church, where he was a trustee and treasurer for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents Russell and Mary Nibert; brother Forrest Nibert; sister Evelyn Kellar; and beloved son-in-law Larry Martin.
He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Jane Dial Nibert; son Judge David Nibert and his wife, Harriett; daughters Carol Jane (Janie) Martin and Mary Rebecca Woodward and husband, George; and grandchildren Amy Nibert Wenerstrom and Stewart, Jennifer Martin Henderson and Scott, Jason Martin, Jeremy Rizer, Matthew Kayser, and Rachel Felker Smith and Dell; great-grandchildren Megan, Emily, Sam and Max Wenerstrom, Brandon and Allison Henderson, and Kennedy Jane Smith; brother-in-law John Kellar; nephews John Forrest Nibert and John Kellar; and niece Sharon Michel.
Funeral services will be conducted at Beale Chapel Church in Apple Grove on Wednesday, June 4, 2014, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Mike Hall officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may visit the family at Deal Funeral Home in Point Pleasant on Tuesday, June 3, 2014, from 7-9 p.m., and again one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Beale Chapel Cemetery Fund, 26075 Huntington Road, Apple Grove, WV 25502; or the charity of your choice.
