GALLIPOLIS — Lola Mae Thacker, 85, of Gallipolis, died Sunday October 8, 2017 at her son's residence. Born August 7, 1932 in Millard, Ky., she was the daughter of the late James and Mary Elizabeth Justice Bevins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her husband, Felon Thacker, a grandson, Gregory Nathaniel Thacker, a sister and brother-in-law, Gloria Justice (Jesse) Kemp, brother and sister-in-law, Paul (Ruby) Bevins, brother, Robert Bevins, and brothers-in-law, Homer Kinder, John Lafferty, and Bill Lowe.
Lola was a loving mother and grandmother. She enjoyed being a homemaker and loved to read. She attended the Gallipolis Christian Church.
She is survived by eight children, Garrett (Betty) Thacker of Columbus, Paul (Shirley) Thacker of Thurman, Rita (Herb) Smith of Gallipolis, Greg (Paula) Thacker of Florida, Steve (Tammy) Thacker of Gallipolis, Brian Thacker of Gallipolis, Marsha (Danny) Sands of Gallipolis, and Melissa (Bill) O'Neil of Vermont, 12 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are four sisters, June Kinder, Ann (Lafferty) Snyder, Kathy Novak and Geneva Lowe.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Wednesday October 11, 2017 at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home with Joe Bowers officiating. Burial will follow at Ohio Valley Memory Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. until time of service.
Pallbearers will be: David Thacker, Cody Smith, Kyle Sands, Brad Wellington, Eric Swindler, Trevor Baker and Patrick O'Neil.
The family asked in lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to either Holzer Hospice or the American Cancer Society. An online guest registry is available at waugh-halley-wood.com.
